Two machines one copy of Altiverb ?
25. Jul 2010 at 11:57
Hi,
I'm slowly switching over to a new machine (PC).
This is at the heart of my studio (film/tv music).
I'm running an older verrsion of Altiverb on my existing machine via iLok licence, when I try to authorise on the new machine via the web, it asked 'do I want to transfer the lic to a new machine?'
The answer eventually will be YES, but i've loads of testing to do before switching over.
Q1 - can I use the iLok and move that between machines keeping two versions running?
Q2 - if I go for the option of moving my lic. I'm assuming it won't work on my old machine (which is currenty running the studio).
HELP
THANKS

I am not sure how iLOK works with Altiverb but the whole point of iLOK from the enduser perspective is to be able to run your software on whatever machine you want.
You can run ALTIVERB (or any other iLOK program) on as many machines as you want as long as you have the iLOK USB key in the machine when you initiate ALTIVERB.
I don't want to get into if iLOKs are good or bad but that is way my iLOK works with software.

Hi,
Yes once you have the Altiverb license on the iLok you can move the iLok back and forth between your old and new computer. This way you can run the studio and do some testing on the new machine.
The challenge/response hard disk authorization is more on/off. When you decide to move it to the new computer it won't work anymore on the old one.
